Ruomei Chen

Composer

Chen Ruomei (b.1979) attended the China Conservatory of Music, where she majored in composition and theory, studying with Yang Qing.

In addition to writing original compositions, Chen has distinguished herself as an arranger, both for instrumental and vocal ensembles. She has received several awards for her works, including the China Conservatory of Music Content Prize. Her work, The Valley was awarded the 3rd Prize of the China Conservatory of Music Composing Contest in 1998. Since September 2007, she has commenced graduate studies in composition at the Central Conservatory, under the distinguished composer
and head of the Composition Department, Tang Jianping. In addition to her musical accomplishments, Chen is an award-winning teacher and is currently active as a teacher at the Beijing Oil Chemical Industry Institute.
