Adam Riis

Singer

Adam Riis studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music from 2000-2005 and is a Malcolm Martineau Crear Scholar 2012.

Adam Riis’ concert repertoire varies from early music, through the classical period to contemporary works.
Adam is a member of The Danish National Vocal Ensemble, and regularly joins ensembles such as Nederlands Kamerkoor, Theater of Voices and Ars Nova Copenhagen.
As a Lieder singer, Adam has an extensive partnership with pianist Christian Westergaard, with whom he participated in competitions in Wigmore Hall and Thomas Quasthoff’s Das Lied in Berlin, where they reached the semifinals.
Adam Riis has recorded the Evangelist in Schütz’ Weihnachts-Historie for Dacapo Records – nominated for a Gramophone Award, the similar part in Schütz’ Johannespassion and Jesus in Sieben Worte, tenor soloist in Scandinavian Cantatas by Buxtehude with Grammy Award Winners Theater of Voices and conductor Paul Hillier, tenor soloist in Monteverdi’s Vespro della beata vergine, the complete art songs of Peter Heise and songs by contemporary composer Ib Nørholm with pianist Christian Westergaard, Baroque Ballads with cembalist Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Carl Nielsen’s The Mother with Odense Symphony Orchestra, the tenor part in Per Nørgårds Libra for the Danish Radio, and Apollo in Monteverdi’s Orfeo for BIS Records.
He is recipient of several prestigious awards, for example The Aksel Schiøtz Prize in 2022.
