Cello
Judith-Maria Blomsterberg studied modern Cello in Lübeck, Germany. During her studies she was engaged at the Hamburg State Opera for four years. At this point in her life she decided to become a Baroque cellist.
She studied Baroque cello at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague with Jaap ter Linden and graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in 2005. She has been a member of Concerto Copenhagen since 2007 and is currently principal cellist.
With the Norwegian Baroque ensemble Barokksolistene she enjoys playing and acting in productions such as “Dido and Æneas” and “The Alehouse sessions.” She is frequently employed as a guest teacher of Baroque cello at the Malmö Academy of Music, the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen and the Danish National Academy of Music in Odense. She has performed with chamber groups including Ensemble Aurora, Scania Consort and Holland Baroque. When she is not playing the cello she enjoys playing tennis, sailing and gardening.
